krab AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

So glad this is on NG finally! One of my favorite OSTs from way back when

Wanted to review for NGAIC, but I was a touch late. Liked it, so here’s my thoughts anyways:

Drum beat sounds too dry for liquid dnb (maybe more reverb?) At 1:12, the vocals needed a little more backing to set up the buildup to the chorus thing. Both big hits felt fairly underwhelming, like there was a whole synth layer missing. The ending coulda used a little more time to breathe, to get from the biggest part of the track to a fadeout. Overall, wasn’t bad to listen to!

I’m glad I found this, cause you’ve got some other banger tracks too!

I knew moonboy was a phony and should not have listened to him :P Yeah. I have a lot of missing knowledge in this area-- but we grow. :)

NGAIC Review:

At the very beginning, I wish the bassline was shorter and beep-boop-ier (more staccato), which is generally the style with chiptune. Then, when the melody grows at :25, it could switch to how it currently is.
Love the main melody and synths used, feels very 80’s nostalgic! Also love the laser thingies at the main melody. :44 and other changes in feel could use some cymbal crashes, even those 8-bit ones. Same at 1:23.
The key and style change towards the end was nice and cute! Ending was a bit out of place and used some odd tones, felt like a second song stuck on the end of the first.
Overall not bad, and a great example of the style! Biggest complaint is that it didn’t have much direction; the transitions weren’t super amazing and the ideas didn’t flow well. If that had been cleaned up I couldn’t find much else wrong with it!

NGAIC Review:

Like the buildup in the first minute! Wish the ride cymbals at about :30 in the background were more sporadic or out of time (like echoing down a hallway). Not a huge fan of the audio sample ‘what am I,’ a bit loud and repetitive imo. The main part lasts for quite a bit, so I’d look for some variance in terms of the drum beat (maybe add some ride cymbal.)
Drums at 2:25 felt super heavy, maybe some sort of lead-in (fade in?) would’ve helped? Just a thought. But absolutely loved the break at 3:08 and the ensuing drop!
The song had a really industrial feel to me, so maybe some machine FX or factory-type stuff could’ve worked as ambient noise? Overall the production and mixing wasn’t too bad, solid piece!

Serious F-777 vibes here! Wish when the main melody came in, it had much more of a hit, and I was also looking for more variance in the synths used. Bass drum was a bit sporadic at times. Could’ve used a growlier synth at the dubstep part, but love the overall sound and tone in the piece!

DXLS responds:

Thanks! :D

Makes me want to listen through the originals! One suggestion: I’d maybe add a little bit more instrumentation variation, the melody synth is essentially the same throughout

DXLS responds:

Thanks for the answer!. What happens is I wanted to make a single song with a certain number of Synthesizers (in total there were 11) .

Why does it sound better than the original lol????

I never saw you wanted to remix it, but I don’t really care I would’ve said go for it anyways

Ooh yey jazz! I’d recommend adding some bass part during the big loud parts, it sounds a bit empty there, but other than that it’s nice!

Great atmosphere, reminds me of Minecraft

thankers
